We are starting a new non-social cycle, metaverse. Which is nothing more than accessible augmented reality. I knew that churches would open their meeting places as soon as Zuckerberg announced such a feat, I didn't think they would be so fast, but they are. What I think about:
1- It is a virtualized environment, not real, fact. Not real because there we are who we want to be, from appearance to speech and actions, the name is Avatar (incidentally, a religious term, where gods of the Hindu belief came down and took the form they wanted, animals and plants).
2- Christianity follows Christ (or at least it should), and the message of the gospel is clear and direct, being who we are, the more we recognize ourselves, the more we heal, grow and mature as people.
3- An environment that allows for real rupture does not seem healthy to me for human beings x spirituality.
4- There is no need for the current moment, we have all the possibilities to worship, gather, associate as a church and people in the most diverse places, and with all tastes and forms, if we do not do so and seek the imaginary, it seems to me a proposal of rupture with the truth of being a church, the impossibility, even prohibition of meeting physically, would even be doubtful, because even so, we could be gathered with a similar person.
5- It is a promising environment that involves a lot of money, including an economic disruptor, I am not surprised that the interest is secondary.
6- It's still something new, everything can be changed, including what I think, but at this moment it seems opportunistic, unnecessary, and anti-truth to be people like people.
7- And you, what do you think?
apprenticeship:
The metaverse is a concept that refers to a shared virtual environment created by a network of Internet-connected devices in which users can interact with a simulated three-dimensional space, objects, and other people in an immersive way. It is a space that combines elements of virtual reality, augmented reality, and virtual worlds in a single environment.
The term “metaverse” was popularized by Neal Stephenson’s 1992 book “Snow Crash,” which describes a shared virtual space where people can interact in real time. In recent years, the concept of the metaverse has received more attention, mainly due to the growth of virtual reality technology and the interest of technology companies in creating immersive experiences for their users.
The metaverse can have a variety of applications, from gaming and entertainment to education, e-commerce and remote work. Some companies are already investing in metaverse platforms, with the aim of creating immersive experiences for their users and exploring new business possibilities.
